Because of all the bets and lingo associated with this game, it has a reputation for being complicated and intimidating for new players. The truth is, it's actually pretty easy to play, and with the emergence of online casinos it has become easier.
The first step in learning how to play online Craps is choosing an online casino to join. As mentioned, nearly all online casinos feature online Craps in their game lists because it's such a classic game. So, with hundreds of online casinos to choose from, the best way to narrow it down is to do a bit of research. Read reviews and look into each potential casino to see if they offer games, bonuses, promotions, and rules that you agree with. Once you've chosen one or two, it's as easy as completing the registration process and selecting Craps on the game list. Playing online Craps from then on out can be divided up into two sections: rolling the dice and placing your bets.
Each player gathered around the table gets a chance to be the 'shooter' - the person throwing the dice - as play moves to the left after each person takes their turn. Of course, playing online Craps allows you to be the shooter all the time as there are no crowds to deal with.
The first throw of a new shooter is called the come out roll. You can tell if the shooter has thrown the come out roll by having a look at the on/off buttons. The come out roll is an integral part of the game as many of the bets are based on this throw. Plus, the come out roll determines the 'point' and the next move in the game.
With each throw, bets are placed, paid out, or taken off the table. Each shooter continues to throw the dice until they roll a 7. At this point, a new game of Craps will begin.
The flow of the game is also dictated by the different bets. For all of the players waiting to take their turn as the shooter, betting is the biggest part of the game. Of course, if you play online Craps, you needn't worry about waiting to take your turn, as it's just you and the Dealer playing. That being said, the bets still play a major part.
Before you throw the dice, you have to put down your wager(s). There are several different bets available in online Craps, which plays a part in the game's reputation for being a bit confusing and difficult. While there may be more than a few different betting options, the truth is, they're all pretty easy to understand. If you're new to the game, it's best to stick to one or two such as the Pass Line bets. For a full explanation of all Craps bets and how they payout, check out our Bets and Odds section.
Once you've placed your bets, simply roll the dice. The number rolled will determine who wins, who loses, and the next move in the game. In online Craps, the computer will do all this work, making it easy for you to sit back and enjoy the game. As mentioned above, you'll keep shooting until you roll a seven. At this point, bets are paid out or taken and a new game starts with another round of betting and a new come out roll.
